Laini Kuumba Ngoma Troupe is a Ki-Swahili name meaning soft and gentle creativity through drum and dance. We have been in existence since June 1962. "LKNT" is a 501 (c) 3 Non-profit Tax Exempt Arts and Educational Organization since September 1986.
Being the very large tree it is, with many roots under it's umbrella. Laini Kuumba Ngoma Troupe has served as an umbrella for many artists and community service organizations throughout the year. To this very date, "LKNT" is still an umbrella for new upcoming artist and organizations across the USA. Hosting several community pilot programs for youth in underserved communities.
"LKNT" spends several months per year recruiting artists both locally and nationwide to participate in our community outreach programs and special projects. Our Artists outreach mission is to not only recruit artist for community outreach, but to employ artists as well.
"Imagine a Community without the Arts, It's Just Like a Community without Trees."
We Dance Our Hearts Out!
How important is Art in a community?
Where is the Arts in the Schools?
We need dance, music, drama and visual arts back in the schools. Not just some schools but, every child needs the arts. All the aspects of life that make us complete and whole as youth is being taken away from us. No Arts, no basic academic skills, no libraries, just test, test, test.
Help keep Arts Alive!
